Annabel Brown Architects

About ABA

Annabel Brown Architects is based in Essex and has an eclectic portfolio ranging from urban proposals to one-off houses in the UK and overseas. Clients range from local Government, community groups and manufacturing industries to private individuals.

The work is underpinned by the belief that the practice of Architecture is not a great mystery. Design and change should be discussed clearly, free from jargon and with an outcome that helps to improve people’s lives. The practice enjoys working with diverse and sometimes marginalised community groups to enable them to engage with their environment and to help to shape its future. Annabel has run workshops in schools, youth centres, shops and factories to engage people in the design process.

The work has a strong environmental ethos and Annabel has been a consultant to primary and secondary schools in Africa and the UK. This work has included programmes on environmental education.

Annabel studied at Cambridge and Liverpool Universities graduating with a first class degree and Distinction respectively. She was awarded the Charles Reilly Medal in 1997. She as elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2010.

Annabel has taught design at a number of Architecture Schools in the UK including Cambridge and Liverpool Universities and University College, London.
